GameDevBlogs Helping game developers be heard

Starting up

Hello,

If you're reading this then you have probably either followed a link someone has sent you, or got here through a search engine. Either way, thanks for taking a look.

It's also quite likely at this point that you are wondering why this blog directory contains no links to blogs. That's next on the "to-do" list. Don't worry, they will be there soon.

I want to do this thing properly. The intention of the site is, as the tag line says, to help game developers be heard. Not the big name guys who get a news article on Kotaku every time they call someone an idiot, but the developers you have never heard of. Because, believe it or not, these guys spend a lot of time making the games you love, and they have a lot of knowledge to share.

I know a huge number of developers have blogs, because I follow them myself. The problem, I think, is getting the information of where these sites are out to the people who want to read them. Search engines don't always work out.

And because I want to help in publicising each and every site I list, I'm going to take a bit of time and feature each one.

In the mean time I will slowly build the lists up - there is one each for Artists, Coders, Designers, and Companies (read the page for that to understand where I'm coming from here).

If you know of a blog that isn't listed, please email the URL in to submissions@gamedevblogs.net for me to look at, and I will add it as soon as I can.

I know there is going to be a mountain of work involved in doing justice to the wealth of knowledge written by game developers on their blogs, but I think these guys are worth it. And if it helps some curious minds find something new to read then I will have done my job.

Thanks for visiting, I hope you find something good to read,
FreakyZoid

  1. Great initiative!

  2. Hey, that’s a nice project! It will be nice -and useful- to have this directory for aspiring game devs.

Anyways, have you thought on having a featured blog or featured post each week?

  3. That’s the plan – I will add blogs to the list, then pick at random to feature listed blogs. If the new blogs stop coming, then I will start featuring articles from them. I’ve also set up a FAQ page – the intention with that is to direct traffic to articles on listed blogs that answer common industry questions.

This site is all about doing the most I can to help drive traffic to the excellent blogs I know are out there.

  4. Brilliant idea Tony, this is going to be great!
